First MilaBook Published – Robert Brook’s Images of Sex and Death

2 06 2013

MilaBooks has always had two strings to its bow.  First there is MilaMaps – our great streetmaps based upon the world famous Ordnance Survey dataset.  Second there is MilaBooks – our plan to get self-published authors to the wider ebook audience that is taking off.  With for MilaMaps under our belt here we are thrilled to launch our first MilaBook.

In 2009 Robert Brook published  Images of Sex and Death; a collection of thought provoking lyrics.  His limited run of self-published books quickly sold out and provided him with  little spending money for a skiing trip to France the following spring.  Robert asked if we could help him reach the wider ebook audience and here is the fruit of our efforts.

Images of Sex and Death explores, in poetic form, the fragile nature of relationships and image.  While the lyrics often skirt round the edges of a normal life, most people find that they can relate to many of the situations described in the songs, which may provide a key to a little self examination.  Perhaps you’ll find the time to indulge in and enjoy these compelling works.

The original issue of the book cost £6.99, so this book edition is a bargain at just £1.60.  Go on.  Let’s get Robert some spending money for his next skiing trip!  Click on the cover above or the button below to buy Images of Sex and Death.

And Now For York

26 05 2013

Our fourth MilaMap is now published and this one covers York.  Now you will all know that York is quite a bit bigger than any of the towns that we have covered so far.  This means that we have taken a slightly different approach.  We still have the overview map showing what we cover – in this case just about all of York within the ring road. Then we have an overview of just the city centre, a detailed streetmap of the city centre and then district maps of all the suburbs.  We think this works quite well and will provide our customers with just what they want.  Please let us know what you think.  Same old full colour.  Same old comprehensive A-Z index.  Same old underlying Ordnance Survey data.  Same old great value price of £1.60.

Knaresborough MilaMap

26 05 2013

While we were processing the Ordnance Survey dataset for our Harrogate and Starbeck streetmap we took the opportunity to also do nearby Knaresborough.  So here it is, our third MilaMap.  Same format as before, same price as before.  We hope you like it.  If you have any suggestions for future MilaMaps please let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Second MilaMap Published – Harrogate

25 05 2013

Hot on the heals of our first street-map here is our second.  This one covers the North Yorkshire town of Harrogate and nearby Starbeck.  Again it uses the highly reliable Ordnance Survey dataset, is in full colour and is a snip at just £1.60.  Again the detailed mapping is preceded by an overview map that shows the extent of the MilaMap.  And again, the MilaMap has a full index of streets and major features such as hospitals and schools.  Click on the feature in the index and you jump straight to the right detailed map.

First MilaMap Published – Tadcaster

25 05 2013

Let’s get the show on the road then!

MilaBooks has two strings to its bow.  Firstly we take existing self-published works and help authors to make them available to a wider audience through the ever more popular ebook readers such as Kindle, iBooks and Google Play.

Secondly we take the highly reliable Ordnance Survey dataset and produce street-maps again for ebook readers.  We call these street-maps MilaMaps.

And this first post is to announce our first MilaMap.  It covers our home town of Tadcaster in North Yorkshire.  We aren’t expecting it to be a big seller but it has proved that what we want to do is possible.  The MilaMap covers the whole of Tadcaster, the small village of Stutton to the south and Toulston, the home of Tadcaster Grammar School to the west.  Like all MilaMaps it is in full colour but is optimised to display well on black and white devices.  It costs just £1.60.
